PATRICK BOLAND

A South Carolina native, Patrick Boland began performing in Columbia, Charleston and the Southeast in the 1970's with his jazz quartet. He received a Bachelor of Music degree in music theory and composition from the University of South Carolina and began post-graduate studies there in jazz performance.

After moving to San Antonio, TX in 1980, Patrick performed at numerous jazz clubs and taught at the San Antonio School of Music. He studied piano at St. Mary’s University and was a member of the St. Mary’s University Faculty Jazz Band.

In 1988 Patrick relocated to Austin, TX where he played the major jazz clubs and hotels and co-founded 3 Muses School of Fine Arts.

Now settled in Asheville since 2002, Patrick continues to compose, teach in his private studio and perform in WNC with various groups including his own. Patrick is happy to be playing with Braidstream and happy to have its members as friends.
